The Role

Overview

Seasonal construction inspector for Maine DOT projects, inspecting and reporting work.

Tasks

-Other duties as assigned, specific duties may include: Hot Mix Asphalt paving inspector, Poured-in-Place Concrete installations, signs and marking, erosion & sedimentation control, utilities, guardrail, or performing basic inspection of general construction activities. -Measurement and documentation of construction activities to ensure compliance with MDOT standards and specifications. -General construction inspection and completion of daily inspection reports -Computation of quantities. -Communications and meetings with Maine DOT and/or consultant supervisors.

What You Bring

-Basic field testing -ACI concrete certification preferred -Use of State Construction Management Software (or ability to learn) -Must be dependable, good-natured and willing to work 8 to 10+ hours per day -Ability to maintain safe work practices in a fast-paced work environment -NETTCP paving certification preferred -Experience in construction inspection or related field required and/or equivalent education. Class 1 entry level & Intern positions do not require previous construction experience. -Strong verbal and written communication skills -Ability to follow verbal and/or written instructions to perform tasks independently and produce neat and accurate reports -Knowledge of Maine DOT standards

-Valid driver’s license: daily use of candidate’s personal vehicle required, Mileage reimbursed at MDOT standard rate.
