Tasks

-Work on industry-defining projects that advance the future of mobility. -Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Supplier Development, and Program Management to ensure production and launch readiness. -Support weekly GM report-outs and internal calls reviewing warranty claims; determine which require further evaluation and request returns for analysis. -Support on-site warranty return evaluations at GM (once per month). -Review CAD data and drawings for design feasibility, manufacturability, and tolerance stack-ups. -Support DV/PV testing (foam compression, durability, function, comfort) and analyze results for compliance. -Act as a technical contact for customer design reviews, warranty issues, and validation updates. -Participate in prototype builds, pre-production events, and launches; track and close open issues. -Provide prompt engineering feedback to DREs, product engineers, and plant leadership for design improvements and issue resolution. -Ensure GM dealer service documents are accurate and appropriate to minimize full seat frame replacements. -Assist with APQP and PPAP documentation, including DFMEA, PFMEA, control plans, and process flows. -Create one-pagers and 5-phase documents for issues requiring additional actions (design updates, containment, increased detection, etc.). -Analyze and interpret warranty claims; categorize, track, and graph GM-reported data to identify trends and lasting corrective solutions. -Drive continuous improvement in seat assembly, foam molding, and product quality. -Implement and track containment and design/process improvement breakpoints with plant assistance. -Collaborate with global engineering teams on high-impact programs. -Investigate and resolve non-conforming or rejected seating components through root-cause analysis and corrective actions.

What You Bring

-Experience in launch and production support, including prototype build participation and issue resolution tracking. -Prior work experience with Tier-1 automotive suppliers in seating or interiors. -Exposure to warranty systems and field issue analysis. -Strong understanding of seat assembly, urethane foam molding, trim, structure, mechanism integration. -Proficiency in CAD tools such as CATIA V5 or NX for design evaluation and component visualization. -Hands-on experience in a plant manufacturing environment; ability to work on the floor and in office setting. -Familiarity with automotive quality tools including 8D, 5-Why, FMEA, and Fishbone Diagram. -Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent experience). -3–5 years of experience in automotive seating, interior systems, or product engineering at an OEM or Tier-1 supplier. -Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with ability to interface across cross-functional and customer teams. -Working knowledge of APQP, PPAP, DFMEA, PFMEA, control plans, process flow documentation. -Experience with PLM systems (Teamcenter; ENOVIA) for configuration and change management -Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies. -Understanding of seat comfort, ergonomics, and occupant safety performance. -Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word). -Skilled in interpreting and analyzing DV/PV test results for validation sign-off.
