Overview

Sort and segregate recyclables, maintain line efficiency & safety at recycling center.

Tasks

-Ensure compliance with all safety rules regarding the sort line; including stopping the conveyor belt in emergency situations. -Sort and segregate recoverable materials (e.g.. aluminum, plastic, glass, paper, etc.) from incoming waste, or remove non-recyclable materials. -Clean the automated sorting equipment on a daily basis, including screens, belly pans, and under the system, in addition to other light maintenance duties. -Deposit recoverable material safely and efficiently into appropriate chute. -Increase production of the sort line by minimizing down time and providing training to sorters on the line. -Inspect and remove jams on the sort line. -Assist other sorters on an as-needed basis with heavy or bulky items. -Maintain cleanliness of facility during shift and perform end of shift cleaning -Assist Maintenance Technicians during system repairs, as assigned. -Communicate with equipment operators regarding incoming loads of special waste or other loads that require special attention.

What You Bring

-Distinguish different types of recyclables (e.g., various types of plastic-PETE, HDPE; glass by color; aluminum from tin or bi-metal; paper-5 to 6 grads). -Minimum of 6 months related experience in a recycling center. -Trained in Lock Out/Tag Out procedures.
