Tasks

The Construction Law Attorney will be responsible for drafting, negotiating, and managing commercial contracts, construction agreements, MSAs, supplier agreements, and NDAs. The attorney will work closely with internal teams and partners to ensure compliance with legal requirements while protecting the company’s interests. -Assess and develop strategies for controversies, oversee and support as needed with respect to business disputes and manage litigation or alternative dispute resolution processes. -Provide legal support to the finance department with respect to payment disputes, collections and/or audit requirements. -Handle contract modifications, warranties, and risk management. -Gather, process, transmit, organize and track agreements in a fast paced and dynamic environment. -Oversee compliance with insurance requirements for projects, work with the office of the General Counsel to support insurance procurement, insurance claims and insurance related matters as it pertains to the construction business. -Develop, update and implement review/drafting standards and templates as needed for the business contracting and transaction needs. -Collaborate with leadership to align legal strategies with company objectives. -Collaborate with support staff as needed for the business. -Draft, review, negotiate, interpret and advise on a variety of commercial and construction contracts, including but not limited to Construction agreements and ensuing change orders/modifications, MSAs, subcontractor agreement, supplier agreements, rental agreements, NDAs, purchase orders/agreements, professional services agreements and guaranty agreements. -Advise internal business units on risk mitigation strategies and legal best practices and develop policies and procedures as needed for risk mitigation. -Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws.

What You Bring

We are seeking an experienced attorney with expertise in contract negotiations, construction law, and risk management. This is an opportunity to play a key role in an in-house legal team, managing complex commercial and construction transactions that directly impact business operations. -Active Texas Bar License (Required) -Prior in-house counsel experience (a plus) -5+ years of legal experience in construction and/or contract law -Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments -Background in litigation and/or litigation management (helpful) -Ability to multi-task, work independently, and manage time-sensitive projects -Strong background in contract negotiation, risk assessment, and compliance -HVAC/Plumbing experience (a plus) -Exceptional organizational skills -Proficiency in MS suite (including a working knowledge of Excel) and Adobe Acrobat
