The Role
Overview
Manage SID accounts, budgeting, financial reporting, and contract fiscal oversight.

Tasks
-Prepares balance sheets and financial statements involving multiple accounts; -Recommends accounting related improvements to business practices such as accounting controls and financial reviews; -Manages various phases of budget preparation and control such as preparing estimates of costs of existing or new programs, offices, or divisions, preparing budget requests, appropriation schedules, monthly budget report and year end budget reports. -Records complex and compound journal entries; -Assists higher level staff in planning, design and implementation of accounting procedures or systems; -Maintains fiscal controls by authorizing non-routine expenditures based on management priorities and policies, examining data, and making recommendations regarding timing and amount of expenditures. -analyze and evaluate accounting methods and procedures; -Analyzes and interprets accounting records and reports; -Reviews expenditures and prepares or reviews financial statements; -Utilizes electronic data processing (EDP) systems for financial records, reports and analysis; -Stay connected! Log in daily to your JobAps Personal Status Board to track your status and check email (including spam/junk folders) for updates and tasks. -Assists in budget management by compiling and reviewing agency manager program budget proposals, preparing estimates and calculations of projected expenditures and quarterly allotments, and preparing monthly reports; -Assists in EDP experts in planning and implementation of financial aspects of EDP systems; -utilize EDP systems for financial management; -May supervise bookkeeping (e.g., maintenance, balancing and reconciling of accounts), accounts payable and/or receivable functions or other accounting related paraprofessional or clerical functions; -Monitors fiscal aspects of contract administration by reviewing and interpreting contracts for approval on non-routine expenditures, processing of provider invoices for payment, financial coding for contract amendments, reports out on a regular basis regarding account status to manager and program staff. -prepare, analyze and evaluate financial statements and other accounting records and reports; -Monitors fiscal aspects of grant programs by preparing or reviewing financial reports, reviewing expenditures for compliance with grant contracts, providing technical assistance to grantees in maintaining accounting records;

What You Bring
-read and interpret written materials. -Ability to -oral communication and written skills; -Experience in extracting, reviewing, interpreting and analyzing financial information from databases and other sources. -Experience preparing reports and reconciling using CORE-CT or other software programs. -Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. -Referral Questions: This posting may require completion of additional Referral Questions (RQs), which must be completed by the questionnaire’s expiration date. If requested, RQs can be accessed via an email sent to you after the job close date or by visiting your JobAps Personal Status Board (Certification Questionnaires section). -Experience preparing related financial written reports and narratives. -interpersonal skills; -College training in accounting or a closely related field may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of four (4) years for a Bachelor's degree. -basic auditing principles and practices; -Two (2) years of experience as an Assistant Accountant may be substituted for the General and Special Experience. -professional accounting principles and practices; -A Master's degree in accounting may be substituted for one (1) additional year of the General Experience. -Knowledge of -governmental accounting and budgeting; -Successful completion of an Accounting Careers Trainee program approved by the Department of Administrative Services may be substituted for the General Experience and Special Experience. -Certification as a Certified Public Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor may be substituted for one (1) year of the General and Special Experience. -Experience with Microsoft Excel to create analytical reports.
