Tasks
-Support the delivery of Balfour Beatty Sustainability activities -Oversee and/or interrogate design options and ‘value’ solutions, and if appropriate, identify the attractiveness of a project based on sound estimating principles. Activities to include: -Ensure compliance with Balfour Beatty procedures, including pre-construction gate process -Work as a senior figure in the Estimating team, including managing the workload and allocation of estimating resource within assigned bid teams. Undertake the role of Estimator, where required -Review contract submission requirements, ensuring all financial information is identified and provided and accurate compliant design proposals are included -Undertaking of NAECI Labour agreements -Plans and organises work to safely achieve maximum efficiency and output. Delivers results consistently -Manage the production of cost information and submissions for senior management -Ensure that key specialists are utilised on each bid to optimise: design, specification, programme and value -Provide considered responses to customer questions including post tender queries -Responsibility for ‘sign off’ of all cost elements prior to financial submissions -Ensure a relentless focus on Zero Harm -Provide mentoring on bids to Estimators and the bid teams, including commercial and technical advice -Input into continuous improvement on bids including, presentation media, producing strategy papers for Senior Management to provide guidance on project pricing and the continual development of the cost management systems and tools within the business stream -Establish and agree key plant rates -Review drawings and specifications to prepare accurate costing sheets for materials, labour and equipment -Ensure that the project commercial team have received an effective handover of bid documentation -Detailed analysis of subcontractors’ analysis -Contribute to meeting the customer’s cost forecasting and reporting requirements within the formats agreed in the contract -Seek to understand, lead the development of and implement the appropriate digital toolsets to execute cost take-off and other estimating activities, such as 5D cost planning -Proactively builds knowledge through sharing knowledge, ideas and expertise with others -Manage customer contact, present proposals to the customer and contribute to customer meetings during the project -Prepare settlement papers and carry out any adjustments required -Actively collects customer information and uses it to improve services and solutions. Manages the experience of customers to ensure positive relationships are established and maintained -Work with suitable sub-contractors and specialists to update cost forecast and reports -Carry out measurement and take-offs, pricing and entering the system -Puts aside personal agendas to work for the benefit of customers and suppliers and other stakeholders -Monitor performance and quality of selected Cost Consultants throughout the project cycle and ensure the validation of any Cost Consultant outputs such as Bills of Quantities -Manage and coordinate the preparation of preliminary and general expense pricing, including plant schedules and risk assessment -Ensure that cost planning and estimating are accurate and reflect the project requirements and risk profile

What You Bring
-Experience of tendering projects in the Petro chemical, nuclear or regulated environments -Experience of pricing and developing customer MTO’s -A desire to continuously pursue innovation and development, with a focus on the customer and the business is required. Proficiency in IT, numeracy and MS Office Basic & Estimating Systems is essential -Demonstrates passion and excitement for their work. Tackles problems head-on and works to resolve them without delay -Detailed knowledge of electrical services including knowledge of HV/LV & instrumentation -Learns quickly. Adapts positively to changing business and customer demands. Is energised by change. -Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required, coupled with an ability to form effective relationships with partners under time pressure. Experience of leading a team is desirable. Able to be a strong team player, as well as work on their own initiative -Membership of a relevant professional body and/or relevant professional qualification is desirable, such as RICS/CIOB/RIBA/ICE/CIBSE -Working knowledge of best practice solutions and optimisation of innovative ideas and an understanding of the principles of Lean Construction and 5D cost planning is desirable -An understanding of BIM and how to read and assemble BIM models and produce appropriate reports from them is desirable -Agree with engineering and planning key methods, outputs and plant selection -Previous experience of managing the process of estimating projects, within the construction industry is required
