Civil Engineer

Overview

Design and deliver highway projects, supporting senior engineer and leading junior staff.

Key Responsibilities

Tasks

-Produce highway drawings packages including materials, construction details, calculations and documents -Keep up to date with industry best practice and where appropriate apply best practice within the team -Work up Traffic Regulation Orders -Can deliver on time, within budget and to the quality required -Liaise with other Engineers within the design team to ensure compliance with all relevant technical standards. -Go on site visits, inspections and supervision -Provide support and progress updates to the Senior Engineer -Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, Road Safety Audit briefs, public correspondence and other written documents -Attend and lead meetings and discussions with developers, the client and other designers

What You Bring

-Be confident to work under minimum supervision and competent to check the work of others and supervise less experienced or junior staff -The ability to support the preparation of briefs for fee quotes for delivery of services outside the Staffordshire Hub when required -A good understanding of Manual for Streets, DMRB, other national standards, best practice guidance, local standards etc. -Relevant experience in highway engineering, particularly local roads and S278 layouts -A good understanding of the CDM regulations and their relevance to highway design -A Degree/Masters qualification in a relevant discipline -The ability to work in a commercial and customer focused way which achieves programme, meets performance targets and generates income
