Tasks

-Assist in developing governance structures, defining roles, responsibilities, and a compliance charter tailored to the business lifecycle of construction, real estate, and manufacturing operations. -Support the definition of risk appetite and tolerance levels, incorporating weighted risk factors to align with strategic objectives in high-risk industries. -Assist in designing an incident management plan with clear reporting protocols to address high-priority risks identified through weighted risk assessments. -Participate in continuous monitoring efforts, including internal audits and tool-based tracking, to ensure compliance and evaluate weighted risk metrics. -Contribute to designing and implementing compliance policies and controls, addressing critical areas such as workplace safety, data privacy, security, and industry-specific regulatory requirements. -Collaborate with stakeholders to create and prioritize a risk register using COSO or similar enterprise risk management frameworks -Help develop and launch training and communication programs to foster a culture of risk awareness, emphasizing weighted risk prioritization across the organization. -Perform additional duties as assigned to support the risk and compliance team’s objectives.

What You Bring

-Strong interest in risk management and compliance, with a willingness to learn COSO or similar frameworks and weighted risk assessment methodologies -Familiarity with data analysis, policy development, or governance principles through academic projects or coursework is a plus -Collaborative team player able to work across multiple functions -Highly organized with attention to detail -Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Risk Management, Business Administration, Finance, Law, Project Management, Construction Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field -Experience developing governance structures, policies, and incident response plans. -Available to travel for the Internship Summit, hosted at a Zekelman Industries location -Strong written and verbal communication skills -Hands-on exposure to risk and compliance practices in a corporate environment. -Ability to work collaboratively in a team and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholder -Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and the ability to interpret data for risk prioritization
