Tasks
This hands-on design position is within RESPEC’s Facilities (Structural) Market Sector. This internship position will work alongside our firm’s full-time employees to learn how professional services are provided to our clients. Our experienced staff will provide mentoring and coaching to our interns to allow development of civil engineering skills and knowledge. Interns will get exposed to our clients, job sites, communities, as well as collaborate with our RESPEC multi-discipline team on public and private sector clients. At RESPEC, you’ll work alongside clients to take on critical problems. Depending on your expertise, you might design infrastructure in remote locations, develop renewable energy solutions for global projects, or apply data-driven technology to improve mining and water systems. We bring deep technical knowledge, real-world experience, and a commitment to work that matters. RESPEC seeks Student Structural Engineer Interns for our Sioux Falls, SD and Cheyenne, WY office locations. This position will be part of our 2026 Summer Internship Program. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain real-world experience with a growing North American engineering consulting firm. This is a temporary part-time position. The ideal candidate will have the following: Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in civil engineering -Some proficiency with Autocad Revit -Strong problem-solving and math skills -Coursework in steel, wood, concrete, and precast/prestressed concrete design -Good working knowledge of fundamental of structural engineering concepts -Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing -Solid time management skills and ability to produce accurate, high-quality work in an efficient manner -Self-motivated and detail-oriented
