The Role

Overview

Apply paints/coatings to structural steel per SSPC specs on weekend shifts.

Tasks

-Receives finished material from shop, prepares surface for coating and sets up paint equipment in order to paint a maximum amount of pieces in the most efficient manner. -The Painter will be responsible coating/painting the appropriate surface of structural steel pieces in accordance with SSPC specifications. -Gathers needed materials and specifications according to the applicable department prints. -Loads finished pieces on trailers for shipping. -Responsible for adhering to all company safety and OSHA regulations.

What You Bring

-Should have some knowledge of how to operate a forklift and overhead crane. -Must be able to read a tape measure and work in fractions. -Must be able to tolerate loud noises. -Minimum 2 years’ commercial painting experience with basic knowledge of Structural Steel Fabrication operations preferred. -Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds. -Experience using zinc and epoxy is required. -Must be familiar with paint equipment and different coatings. -Job requires excessive amounts of climbing, bending, pushing, pulling, crawling and stooping, etc. -Lexicon University -The ability to work overtime and regular, punctual attendance is required. -Must have airless experience. -Must be able to understand paint code systems.
