Tasks

-Make sure jobs are inspected in priority order, and accurately. -Monitor inspection in the Sample Reception Website in priority. -Manage Sample Reception KPIs. -Make sure all submissions are received and prioritized to ensure holding times and turn-around times. -Assist in creating a pleasant and harmonious team working environment and take accountability for actions taken. -Coordinate the receipt, inspection and handling of the hazardous samples. -Adhere to the safety protocols established by the organization -Assist in the working of Sample Reception in the absence of the Supervisor, including approval of time sheets and conduct the biweekly health and safety tailgate meetings, and write up near misses. -Identify and create SIFs when required. -Notify Team Leads of other departments and Manager of any problems. -Daily follow up on e-mail. -Follow SOPs and Work Instructions. -Ensure counter, ramp, dock and areas surrounding Sample Reception is clean. -Assist Customer Service, Sales and Laboratory staff with inquiries related to department. -Ensure COCs are completely filled out upon arrival. -Daily calibration of thermometers before usage -Make sure training folders are up to date. -Participate in regular team meetings. -Scan all COC and attachments. -Ensure timely scanning of samples into the fridge, and delivery of microbiology samples to the micro lab. -Greet internal and external customers in a pleasant manner and provide prompt customer service. -Help monitor hazardous samples in the SR fume hood. -Ensure all COCs are received in the SR Website in a timely manner and by end of day. -Help investigate LIMS/inspection-related problems of inspected samples -Unpack samples and organize them on the inspection tables according to COC. -Communicate any information of importance to Manager, Supervisors and Team Leads. -Create jobs in LIMS. -Check the lockers in the morning and remove any samples inside. -Ensure Customer Service-related supplies are stocked up and available to serve. -Ensure samples are properly bar-coded to ensure accuracy and quality of work. -Separate ice packs; remove packaging material and broken glass before coolers are brought to the warehouse. -Ensure schedules for receiving, cleaning and training are adhered to, daily. -Make sure any remaining samples from the previous day are removed from the fridge and processed the next morning. Count, record and dispose of empty returned bottle orders after clarification that they can indeed be disposed off. -Coordinate removal of samples from the SR fume hood and disposal at Archiving -Develop a collaborative relationship with all of the organization’s personnel to ensure the high standards demanded of the clients. -Dispose broken glass in the provided glass recycling boxes or marked boxes, not in the regular garbage receptacle. -Order/Buy office supplies. -Coordinate removal of returned containers with Archiving. -Be proactive in the identification of possible improvements concerning quality and effectiveness of the processes. -Make sure the customer counters are kept clean at all times. -Provide productivity status report to Manager whenever called upon. -Keep the sink in Bottle Prep area and cooler storage room clean and organized at all times. -Delegate and coordinate work to Sample Reception staff. Coordinate with the evening shift staff of Pre-Processing, Organic and Inorganic Processing labs. -Maintain the work area as clean and organized as possible in order to prevent contamination and accidents. -Train new Sample Reception staff. -Ensure daily random QC checks of jobs are carried out. -Recognize or question submissions that contain or are suspected of containing hazardous substances for proper WHMIS labeling. -Communicate any information of importance on the board/via e-mail for the next shift. -Proactively escalate issues related to Website/production/facilities to Supervisor and concerned staff. -Promptly store samples in their designated locations to maintain sample integrity. -Make sure no samples are left behind in the shipping dock. -Ensure Compliant Pro readings are up to date. -Seek the assistance of experienced personnel when unsure on how to treat a specific submission. -Ensure proper procedures are followed for legal samples. -Make sure COCs ice and promotional material are provided for customers in the 24 hr drop off room. -Write and update SOP and WI. -Notify QA and appropriate lab areas of the arrival of their samples and interlab transfers.

-Energetic personality who can work independently and as a team in a multi-tasking, fast-paced environment -Strong customer service skills -3 to 5 years of experience in specific environment -Ability to lift 40lbs -Ability to effectively interact with colleagues and provide coaching and mentoring when needed -Good computer skills (e.g. MS Excel®, MS Outlook®, MaxxLIMS) -Fully trained and certified in all aspects of handling, offering for transport and transporting of dangerous goods as outlined in the Canadian Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Act and Regulations. Training must be compliant with all means of transport used by Bureau Veritas Analytics -Excellent leadership, communication skills (both written and verbal), organizational skills and detailed oriented -Understand analytical requests and their accompanying guidelines. -High school diploma -Experience in a laboratory environment is considered an asset -Hold time prioritizations.
