Tasks

The purpose of the Structural Engineer role is to ensure that Civil/Structural designs meet the highest standards with regards to safety, code compliance, scope alignment, quality, cost, and on-time delivery. In this role you will guide and validate Civil / Structural designs to support project delivery, promoting structural efficiency and cost optimization, without compromising safety, by effectively communicating design requirements with the design team and project engineer, in accordance with project program deadlines. -Attend sites as required, to conduct site and/ or condition surveys, and prepare reports on findings thereafter. -Ensure analytical models are transferring loads as expected, and that axial forces and moments are fixed/ released as stability (& connection design) demand. -Deliver works in alignment with the business’ ISO 9001 processes and templates as controlled within the Quality Management System (COS). -Engage with the quarterly 1-2-1 process and take actions to address areas for improvement. -Support CAT 2/ CAT 3 checking requirements with any supplementary information as required. -Attend project design/ model reviews as required, supporting interfacing and tolerancing where applicable. -Produce hand calculations to validate connection design. -Attend client meetings as requested by the Project Engineer. -Review project specifications and confirm scope of supply (including anticipated cost/ programme and the impact into the project team. -Produce analysis models to validate civil/ structural configurations, and to generate foundation loads. -Prepare Civil/ Structural Basis of Design summary prior to commencing engineering works. -Identification, and escalation, of all civil/ structural Technical Queries (TQ) that occur on the project. -Check Civil/ Structural drawing output (as required) to ensure that the information within reflects analytical models and calculations. -Responsible for identifying any (internal/ external) changes to civil/ structural scope and escalating to the Project Engineer to capture via the DCN process. -Prepare Civil/ Structural calculation reports for inclusion into the project technical file. -Effectively communicate design requirements to the design team. -Ensure personal objectives are completed in a timely manner and drive overall departmental/ business objectives year-on-year. -Update Project Engineer and Head of Civil/ Structural on progress against task on a weekly basis, Highlighting any blockers or foreseen issues as/ when they become evident.

What You Bring

-Contribution towards eye test and glasses. -Ability to use structural analytical software unaided - STAAD Pro or TEKLA Structures. -Strong attention to detail and committed to quality performance/ output. -Strong communicator with internal and external customers alike, with good presentation skills. -Understanding of load cases and combinations, and able to deduce structures are behaving as intended through calculation or analysis. -Minimum BEng (Hons) in Engineering (preferably Civil or Structural Engineering). -Experience of good time management in a project delivery environment. -Experience in a Civil/ Structural engineering field. -Knowledge of the construction & process industries and applicable standards.
