Tasks

-Inspects all equipment on a regularly scheduled basis; meets all requirements of the established preventive maintenance program; inspects, maintains, and repairs solid state boiler control systems and electrical switch gear and electric motors. -Repairs and maintains major equipment such as motors, generators, and electrical control systems. -Maintains the files necessary to support all maintenance activities. -Observes functioning of installed facility equipment to detect hazards and need for adjustment, relocation, or replacement. -Repairs and maintains all facility electrical wiring and fixtures in accordance with blueprints, manuals, and building codes using appropriate hand and electrician's tools. -Tests defective equipment to determine the cause of malfunction or failure using standard electrical test equipment. -Inspects circuits and wiring for specified shielding and grounding and repairs or rewires plant equipment systems according to state building codes and safety regulations. -Installs and repairs electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment. -Plans layout of new wiring installations. -Adjusts, calibrates, and repairs electrical-pneumatic control systems-inspects electrical-pneumatic system for emergency repairs-reports and logs all findings.

What You Bring

-High School Diploma/GED is required. -Possess a valid vehicle Connecticut Electrical License. -Must have flexibility to reach, stoop, and bend to work on equipment. -Must be able to walk up to 3 miles per 8-hour shift. -Fairly knowledgeable in computer operations-able to make spreadsheets and documents and enter information into Kloudgin. -Knowledge of the methods, materials, equipment, and tools used in the maintenance and repair of advanced mechanical and/or electrical systems. -Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather. -Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 100 pounds from floor to waist level. Items lifted are often bulky and difficult to handle. -Must be able to ascend and descend up to 1,000 steps in an 8-hour shift. -Possess a valid Connecticut Driver's License. -Must be able to participate on standby rotation and be available for emergency callouts. -Must be able to carry a 50-pound toolbox, up a flight of stairs. -Must be able to work in constricted places. -Extensive knowledge with hand and power tools and equipment commonly used in the electrical field. -Position may require working non-standard hours to complete a repair job; position requires being a self-starter and having the ability to work independently; position will require extensive cross training in all aspects of facility maintenance. -Must be able to climb and work off a ladder or scaffold and climb into vehicles having high ground clearance. -Possesses a valid commercial driver's license to operate on-the-road equipment. -Extensive knowledge in the operation and maintenance of vehicles, electrical equipment, motors, pumps, and equipment used in and around water and wastewater systems.
