Tasks

In this full-time, permanent role, you’ll take the lead on mechanical diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance — both in the workshop and out in the field. You’ll work on rotating machinery, turbines, pumps, and critical plant systems — often in the power generation or heavy engineering sectors. No two days are the same, and your impact will be immediately visible. -Maintaining auxiliary and balance-of-plant (BOP) systems — gearboxes, coolers, conveyors, valves, and more -Managing your workload efficiently across a variety of projects and client sites -Performing mechanical repairs and servicing on rotating equipment, including large turbines and industrial pumps -Clearly communicating findings and solutions to clients and team members -Completing both workshop and field-based service tasks, including reporting, condition assessments, and technical recommendations -Leading and supporting planned outages, installations, and shutdowns -Using micrometers, alignment tooling, and diagnostic equipment for accurate fault detection and maintenance

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a specialist engineering services provider supporting high-value industrial machinery across the UK — with a strong regional focus in the Southeast. 📍 Based in West Horndon with UK-wide travel (primarily Southeast) -High technical competency in diagnostic, measurement, and reporting tools -Proven experience with installation, commissioning, fault finding, and mechanical repairs -Solid background in heavy industry, field service, or rotating machinery maintenance -Physical fitness and readiness for hands-on mechanical work -Availability for 1-in-5 callout rota -Willingness to travel or stay away from home as needed -Strong communication skills and customer-facing professionalism -A proactive, independent approach — able to work solo or within a close-knit team -Mechanical qualifications such as ONC, HNC, NVQ, or equivalent -Full UK driving licence (ideally clean) -Power generation industry exposure, especially working with prime movers and BOP -Eligibility to obtain relevant security clearances -OEM pump or turbine experience
