Small Cell Technician

Overview

Install, test, and maintain small cell 4G/5G antenna, RF, and fiber equipment on towers.

Tasks

-Perform routine and preventative maintenance -Coordinate with other technicians and engineers to ensure proper system operation -Assist with the installation, testing, and repair of transmission and fiber and power conductors . -Assist with testing of new and existing equipment. May include sweep, PIM, or fiber testing. -Assist with the assembly of small cell and RF equipment on poles. -Perform tower construction activities including assembling/erecting towers, installing antennas, mounting hardware, installing coax and connectors, grounding, testing, positioning, and optimizing antennas and lines. -Installation of RF and antenna system components such as (antennas, TMA's, RRU's, diplexers, coax, hybrids, grounding, supports, weatherproofing, connectors, hardware, etc.) -Assist with the installation of required small cell equipment, including, but not limited to, masts, clamping, bracing, supports, antennas, remote radio units, cabling, and small scope civil CX including concrete. -Utilize PPE in compliance with EHS requirements and industry standards -Maintain OSHA safety requirements at all times with the ability to follow EHS procedures and protocol

What You Bring

-Basic knowledge of knots and tower riggings preferred. -Ability to travel and work in remote locations outside of the metropolitan area. -Work with basic hand tools and safety equipment. Telecom test gear knowledge a plus. -Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams. -Small Cell Tech II 1-2 years of experience as a technician -Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment. -Ability to meet strict deadlines. -Attention to detail -Small Cell Tech III 2-3 years of experience as a tower technician -Ability to work in all weather conditions except for unsafe or extreme weather conditions. -Computer , Smart Phone, and Microsoft Office proficiency. -Desire and ability to climb structures to heights in excess of 300’ while carrying loads in excess of 50 pounds. -Proficient in reading and understanding construction drawing and support documentation, RF data sheets, and basic electrical concepts. be able to communicate both verbally and electronically. -Problem solving and troubleshooting skills -Ability to operate power tools and hand tools. -Highschool diploma or GED equivalent -Understanding and ability to process RFDS and read and execute construction drawings. -Have knowledge of and ability to meet and pass all DOT requirements -Small Cell Tech I Entry level basic Construction experience preferred -Travel is required 50% of the time -Basic electronic knowledge -Ability to work at heights greater than 20 ft. -Ability to take and understand written and verbal direction.
