Tasks
You will feel very much a part of our team, despite our mostly remote work environment due to COVID. Our team meets daily to review our priorities and progress towards important milestones. Throughout the day, you will interface with the Controller, Manager, and the other Staff Accountant as we work together to complete each day's assignments and make progress toward longer term projects. You will also communicate directly with staff throughout Scout to secure required approvals, clarifications, and to manage expectations going forward. The Staff Accountant reports directly to the Senior Corporate Accountant. As a Staff Accountant with Scout Clean Energy, you will play an integral role in building a tightly knit and highly productive team. You will have the opportunity to learn about the many facets of a wind developer and operator's accounting, ranging from day-to-day transactions, to month-end project financials, to due diligence on acquisitions, to the requirements of tax equity investors. You will be responsible for accurately completing a variety of accounting tasks on firm timelines, assuring our company's ability to continue to drive growth and meet our commitments to our staff, investors, communities, and business partners. -Research and reconcile discrepancies and verify documents as prescribed by accounting procedures and policies. -Complete timely and accurate processing of day-to-day transactions, such as accounts payable, accruals, schedules, expense reports, accounts receivable, job costing, journal entries, bank reconciliations, and others. -Assist with all aspects of accounting and the preparation of financial statements in accordance with generally accepting accounting principles (GAAP) in a multi-company environment. -Prepare schedules and reports to support cash management, budgets, and account reconciliations and analysis. -Review financial data for accuracy; identify problems and support day-to-day operations. -Maintain and update supporting documentation, such as fixed assets schedules.

Our new Staff Accountant will understand the service-oriented nature of this position and will bring the maturity needed to interact with many personality types and competing priorities. We seek someone with a desire to continuously improve and to support the development of processes that drive our team's efficiency. Our ideal candidate will able to commute to our Boulder office at least three times each week. -Optional: SQL experience. -Ability to maintain information confidentiality and handle with discretion. -Previous experience in energy, construction, or real estate development will help you understand our typical reporting cycles. -High attention to detail and the ability to work proactively and productively in a team environment without direct supervision. -Strong organizational and time management skills. -Experience using influence rather than authority to achieve desired outcomes. -Preferred: Intermediate proficiency with Excel (e.g., VLOOKUP, Pivot Table) -Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related business field. -Strong verbal and written communication skills, including experience with writing, editing, or collaboration on operational procedures. -Initiative. Resourceful self-motivators who thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment because of their exceptional leadership, work ethic, and organizational skills. -Required: Working experience with accounting systems and the Microsoft Office suite. -2-4 years of experience in accounting; this may include internships in accounting. -Intelligence. Problem-solving learners who can make informed decisions quickly and create innovative and pragmatic solutions to challenging problems. -Demonstrated experience with key software systems: -Demonstrated ability to work in a flat organization, successfully leveraging the expertise of multiple colleagues in different lines of reporting. -Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Target base salary: $70,000 - $80,000. Attractive bonus potential.
