Tasks
When you join us in this unique and fast-moving role, you’ll sit in the technology and operations area of our business, and focus on large, high profile cross-government and cross-border projects, for example with colleagues in the Ministry of Defence or with friendly foreign governments. Overseeing the setting up of each project and developing the relevant pricing, you’ll work with our customer relationship team to build models that reflect what we and the customer want the project to achieve, and as the work progresses, you’ll deliver high quality financial reporting. Committed to ensuring that each project is controlled correctly and complies with governance and accounting policy, we’ll also expect you to lead on end-to-end financial management, for example by making sure expected costs are allocated on a timely basis and billing milestones are met. You’ll be working on a wide range of projects with some extremely interesting and important customers, so your day-to-day work will be unlike any other Project Accountant role, and as the success of our work depends on people making effective decisions, it will be your task to highlight performance drivers, provide high quality analysis and work on the monthly review of each project’s outturn.

You can find out more about vetting at fcdoservicescareers.co.uk/how-to-apply/ To be a success in this important role you’ll be a collaborative team player with the ability to work successfully with a diverse range of customers, colleagues and stakeholders. A highly analytical problem solver with strong IT skills, we’ll also look for an accounting qualification gained through the CIMA, ACCA or AC, with plenty of post-qualified experience in project accounting, although QBE will be considered. It's important that you possess strong knowledge of IFRS 15 and experience of revenue recognition, and a good functional understanding of Enterprise Resource Planning software. In addition, experience of working in public sector finance and the principles and governance relating to the management of public money would be desirable, as would the ability to work in the IT sector.
