Cafe Operator (3 month contract)

Overview

Operate on‑site café: plan menus, prepare food, ensure hygiene, manage stock & allergens.

Key Responsibilities

Tasks

-Clearly label food with ingredients and allergen warnings -Continual improvement of menus based on feedback and purchase data to improve offerings and sales -Source ingredients and supplies from approved vendors -Ensure portion control and consistency in food quality and presentation -Communicate allergen risks to customers and accommodate dietary restrictions -Complete regular risk assessments and hygiene audits -Design weekly menus that cater to diverse dietary needs and preferences -Conduct daily cleaning of kitchen, equipment, and dining areas -Record and update allergen information for all menu items -Order supplies proactively to avoid shortages -Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, snacks, and beverages -Build and maintain relationships with local suppliers for fresh produce and specialty items -Maintain high standards of cleanliness and food hygiene in accordance with UK Food Standards Agency regulations -Track inventory levels and perform weekly stock takes -Negotiate pricing and delivery schedules to ensure cost-effective procurement -Minimize waste through efficient stock rotation and menu planning -Monitor fridge/freezer temperatures and ensure proper food storage
