The Role

Overview

Operate and manage safe handling, storage, and distribution of bitumen at Galway terminal.

Tasks

-Assist with the discharge of bitumen from vessels at the docks, following approved procedures and health and safety regulations. -Assist with general cleaning and housekeeping duties throughout the terminal to maintain a safe and organised workplace. -Maintain accurate records of stock levels, deliveries, and despatches using terminal management systems. -Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental policies, reporting any incidents or irregularities promptly. -Carry out routine inspections and basic maintenance of terminal equipment and infrastructure to prevent faults and ensure compliance with environmental and safety standards. -Safely load and unload bitumen deliveries to / from road tankers. -Work collaboratively with colleagues and other departments to optimise terminal operations. -Monitor and operate terminal equipment, including pumps, valves, and heating systems, to ensure the correct handling of bitumen. -Take part in relevant training sessions and safety drills as required.

What You Bring

-Basic IT skills for record-keeping and reporting. -Ability to work with teams across departments and on own initiative -Willingness to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required -Good time management skills -Good understanding of health and safety regulations relating to hazardous materials -Minimum B2 Level in spoken English(Test may be required) -Ability to carry out physical tasks, including lifting, climbing, and working outdoors in various weather conditions. -Good communication and interpersonal skills (written and oral) -Attention to detail -Ability to work at heights for tank inspection. -Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. -Flexibility to work shifts, including occasional early mornings, late evenings / weekends, as required, particularly when vessels are arriving. -Previous experience working in a bitumen terminal, chemical handling, maritime operations, or a similar industrial environment is desirable, but training will be provided. -Relevant certificates or licences (such as Safe Pass, Forklift, hazardous goods handling, or dockside safety etc.) would be advantageous. -Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
