Tasks
-Leading a team of inspectors in the field during inspections -Training new inspectors, scheduling, and plans the team's activities in conformance with bridge priorities -Operating access equipment and other equipment to perform inspections -Responsible for carrying out in-depth inspections on bridges, light standards, culverts, pipes, sign supports, & overhead walkways and preparation of reports detailing conditions found during the inspection process. These reports are used in an evaluation process that determines the structural integrity and the capability of structures to support loads imposed on them by the traveling public and/or natural forces. -Advanced level in-depth safety inspection work as the Team Leader of a 2 man bridge inspection team that conducts inspection on all types of structures in North Carolina -Scheduling and coordinating inspections, personnel, vendors, stakeholders, maintenance of traffic

What You Bring
-Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office -A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR). -Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines. -EIT or P.E. license preferred but not required -Minimum of 5+ years of experience in bridge inspections with a minimum of 1 year service as a qualified NBIS Team Leader -Work in an outside environment at considerable heights, exposure to snakes, spiders, insects, and poisonous plants -NHI Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges course with Refresher Training within the last 5 years -Valid driver’s license. -The successful candidate will have experience in conducting field inspections and preparing inspection reports. Candidates should possess a strong working knowledge of NBIS and have advanced writing and communication skills. -Must have NBIS Bridge Inspection Course -In-State Travel required -Strong knowledge of NBIS and have advanced writing and communication skills -Safety shoes will be required as a condition of employment -NHI Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges and Inspection and Maintenance of Ancillary Highway Structures Courses preferred but not required
