The Role

Overview

Oversee NY vegetation management program, liaise with stakeholders, handle emergencies.

Tasks

-Provide off-hour coverage for routine emergencies, storm events, public meetings, and customer commitments. Perform other assigned duties. -Work with government agencies, such as DOT, DPS, and DEC, to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and communicate vegetation management plans and procedures to community stakeholders. -Address customer inquiries and concerns, maintain effective relationships with local officials, and attend various customer, community, and municipal meetings as required. -Provide professional, technical, and legal input to support other NGRID strategies and objectives as a subject matter expert through inter-departmental coordination. -Respond to customer and community concerns related to Vegetation Management (VM) Programs on both Transmission and Distribution. -Deliver and promote public VM education through external public relations. -Participate in or lead project teams for divisional or companywide VM initiatives.

What You Bring

-Willingness to travel to alternate locations/jurisdictions as required to support these events. -Possession of a valid driver's license. -Ability to support significant storm events through extended workdays, overnight shift coverage, etc. -Ability to traverse rough terrain (foot patrols) in remote locations while performing field crew visits and supporting field storm response. -Demonstrated effective decision-making, leadership capabilities, and fiscal management. -Highly preferred working knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR Part 1910.269 Line Clearance Tree Trimming Operations, American National Standard A-300 & Z-133 National Electrical Safety Requirements for Arboricultural Operations. -Minimum of a two-year degree in Arboriculture, Urban Forestry, Forestry, or a related natural resources field from an accredited school, or related Line Clearance field experience. -Arborist Certification from the International Society of Arboriculture. -Self-motivated with strong public speaking skills. -Desired work-related experience in utility line clearance, contractor management, fiscal accountability, managerial decision-making, public speaking, and natural resource field experience.
