The Role
Overview
Read water meters and resolve metering issues while providing customer service.

Tasks
-Take personal responsibility for yourself and also others with respect to health and safety, risk management and control of work to ensure compliance with the YW Safety Policy. -Work as part of the team to deliver excellent performance by understanding how their individual performance links into achieving the team's wider objectives. -Identify street furniture defects and undertake remedial action as appropriate. -Carry out ad hoc meter readings as required, e.g. checks and final reads. -Ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation and adherence to accident management procedures -Attend customer appointments to carry out basic investigations into high and low consumption and take appropriate action. -You will be carrying out a range of manual handling duties including heavy lifting of manhole covers. -Ensure regular maintenance of meter reading rounds and location notes to agreed standards. -Locate external meter chambers/enter customer's premises, e.g. homes, factories, schools etc. on a cyclical basis to accurately record water meter readings. -Identify and replace damaged meters where possible and in line with trained level of capability.

Location: North Yorkshire – Ripon/Catterick/Bedale - To be considered for this role you should live within a reasonable commutable distance to the role location If successful for the role, you will be required to undergo pre-employment checks that will include a Basic Disclosure Check, carried out through a Third-Party Company, prior to commencing employment. Depending on the role, you may also be required to go through the security vetting process for either a Counter Terrorist Check or Security Check clearance. If you've got experience in Customer Service and want to help us deliver great service for our customers whilst looking after the environment, then be sure to apply today to find out what a career with Yorkshire Water can offer you. -Previous experience gained within the water or waste water sectors or within the broader utilities, process or manufacturing industry sectors. -Experience of working independently. -IT skills - Competent using MS Office applications and ability to quickly adapt to new systems. -Demonstrate financial awareness when making day to day business decisions. -Full Driving Licence -This is an outdoors role so you must be comfortable working in all weathers and terrains. -Experience of understanding where your role fits within a business plan and then developing ways to deliver the outputs. -Previous meter reading experience. -Previous experience in a commercially orientated and / or regulated environment. -Experience of working in a Customer service environment. -Experience of delivering against challenging business targets. -Understanding of household plumbing and water distribution.
