Tasks
Based in our Perth CBD office, you’ll play a key role within our Engineering and Design team, overseeing complex technical designs and leading the delivery of innovative, safe, and efficient solutions for both Western Power and customer-connected facilities. In this senior role, you’ll take the lead in coordinating, analysing, and approving complex engineering designs across the distribution network. You’ll conduct in-depth engineering investigations, manage technical information, and champion technical development and process improvements that strengthen our network and enhance performance across the business. -Lead by example to continuously improve health and safety performance, with a strong focus on safety in design. -Provide technical leadership, coaching, mentoring, ensuring own work and that of other contributors is to the defined standard. -Contribute to resource planning and project prioritisation, supporting leaders in balancing workloads and aligning deliverables. -Respond to stakeholder queries and correspondence, providing timely and expert technical advice. -Provide high-level technical support and mentoring, sharing specialist expertise across teams and the wider Western Power community. -Apply sound change management practices to projects, programs, and processes, ensuring appropriate documentation and governance. -Plan and schedule your own work, to achieve agreed project outcomes and performance targets. -Ensure compliance with design standards and specifications, and strong knowledge of distribution design standards, regulations, and procedures. -Lead the design projects and protect delivery timeline with quality, safety and environmental requirements. -Drive a culture of excellence, collaboration, and customer focus within the Engineering and Design team.

What You Bring
-Eligible for corporate membership of Engineers Australia. -Able to identify and to develop innovative new methods, processes and systems for continuous improvement. -A Degree in Electrical Engineering. -8 – 10 years’ experience in a utility background. -Ability to analyse complex design drawings, assess risks, and propose cost-effective, constructible solutions. -Demonstrated skills in problem solving and root cause analysis, manage shifting priorities, and data management. -Competence in design review processes, identifying non-conformances, and specifying remedial actions. -An extensive knowledge of overhead and underground distribution design standards, policies, tools and procedures like AS7000, AS3000, Overhead and underground design guidelines Poles and Wire, Neara, PLS Cad, MicroStation etc. -Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. -Demonstrated experience delivering end-to-end distribution design projects from scoping to delivery. -Ability to quickly integrate into the team while respecting diversity and cultural differences.
