Senior Quantity Surveyor/Commercial Manager for mechanical high-tech projects

Tasks

-Lead and mentor project QS and commercial team members. -Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle. -Assess and certify subcontractor payment applications, ensuring compliance and value accuracy. -Manage project change control processes and ensure timely commercial communication with stakeholders. -Support project teams with cost data for decision-making and risk mitigation. -Develop, analyse, and agree project rates and star rates with clients and subcontractors. -Prepare Bills of Quantities (BoQ), cost schedules, and rate build-ups. -Produce and update detailed cost forecasts, cash flow projections, and financial reports. -Oversee procurement strategies, subcontractor engagement, and contract administration. -Ensure compliance with contract terms (NEC, FIDIC, or equivalent) and company procedures. -Maintain accurate measurement records for all works to support interim valuations and variations. -Work closely with engineering, planning, and project management teams to ensure alignment between technical and commercial objectives. -Prepare, submit, and negotiate variations, claims, and final accounts. -Prepare, submit, and agree monthly interim payment applications in accordance with contract terms. -Build strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure transparent and efficient project delivery. -Lead and manage all commercial functions across major mechanical and process projects. -Carry out detailed measurement and quantification of mechanical works directly from drawings, models, and site inspections. -Track and report project cost performance, value of work done, and profitability.

What You Bring

-Professional accreditation (MRICS, SCSI, or equivalent) desirable. -Strong mechanical services background with ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications. -Proficiency in cost management software and Microsoft Office suite. -Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills. -Proven track record on semiconductor, cleanroom, or high-tech industrial projects. -Minimum 10 years’ experience in mechanical quantity surveying and commercial management. -Expertise in measurement, rate development, valuations, and cost reporting. -BSc in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or equivalent degree (essential).
