Tasks

-Interpret and apply applicable NFPA standards to the design and/or layout of the sprinkler systems based on the building type, construction type, hazard classification and architectural features. -Actively participate in predesign and review meetings. -Coordinate with team members for permitting and inspection requirements. -Coordinate with team members for listing of required materials. -Perform field check of completed design to verify accuracy, if required. -Communicate with AHJs, contractors, and other trades. -Adhere to company safety policies and procedures to ensure all duties are performed in a safe and professional manner -Coordinate projects to meet delivery dates. -Identify opportunities for cost-saving measures and quality improvement -Work closely with the Estimation department, Design Manager, and Operations Manager to review the scope sheet and requirements of each project. -Provide outstanding customer service -Read and interpret construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and contracts. -Coordinate sprinkler system piping with other building components. Perform hydraulic calculations. -Design and layout sprinkler systems using specialized CAD software packages that are based on the AutoCAD platform.

What You Bring

-Ability to read and interpret architectural, electrical, and mechanical drawings -Strong knowledge of industry codes such as IFC, NFPA, IBC, and NEC -Ability to work in a fast-paced service/construction team environment -Must obtain and retain any licenses that are required by national, state/province, and local codes. -Ability to travel as needed -NICET Level I - IV certification is preferred. -Excellent verbal and written communication skills -Must have experience with designing fire sprinkler systems -Ability to maintain accurate and auditable records -Experience with a variety of system types and manufacturers -Visualizes 3D concepts and solves basic mathematic problems, including geometry and algebra -Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook -Proficient in interpreting and applying applicable NFPA standards, and in reading and interpreting construction documents. -Minimum Experience: 2+ years Fire Protection Design experience or a Fire Sprinkler Design Degree -High School diploma or GED is required -Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office is required. HydraCAD is preferred.
