Monitor and improve coastal water quality for Auckland's aquatic environments

Tasks

-provide scientific support to kaimahi responsible for field operations and data collection -Help sustainably manage Auckland’s fresh, coastal and marine water quality for future generations -develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders involved in the sustainable management of Auckland’s waterbodies. -contribute to the design, delivery, management and review of environmental monitoring, evaluation and investigation programmes and maintain a high scientific and technical standard -analyse and evaluate datasets using appropriate statistical and data visualisation techniques and communicate results through technical publications and other media

What You Bring

-the ability to analyse, interpret and report scientific information, including use of quantitative statistical analyses (such as R-coding skills) -an understanding of coastal water quality issues and processes -experience with coastal water quality monitoring and working with continuous water quality data in coastal environments -sound understanding of Te Tiriti o te Waitangi and Te Ao Māori and a recognition of the value of the use of tikanga at work -understanding of local government, particularly the statutory requirements associated with resource management -demonstrated experience in water quality science or a similar role, preferably in the coastal water quality space -good technical writing skills and proven experience in communicating complex information to a variety of audiences
