Tasks

-Collaborate with others on how we want to build the job through fabrication and erection. -Review and analyze blueprints, specifications, schedules and other documentation presented by the client, to accurately prepare and estimate projects. -Seven to ten (7-10) YOE progressively estimating and bidding structural steel and heavy plate construction projects. -Interact with other team members, internal departments, and subcontractors professionally. -Prepare the takeoff of steel materials, estimate all necessary shop labor and field labor, buyout items, equipment cost, and subcontractor work, etc., to prepare a thorough estimate. -Adhere to and follow the Schuff Steel estimating guidelines and procedures. -Work directly with Sales and Pre-construction teams to understand the size and scope of projects, along with timelines and applicable project deadlines. -Prepare detail-oriented and accurate estimates on new projects as well as any changes to orders on existing contracts, meeting assigned deadlines.

What You Bring

-Thorough understanding of Structural steel and Architectural design drawings and details. -Be comfortable discussing alternative recommendations on projects in which management requires supplementary estimates to meet client needs. -Proven experience as a construction or steel estimator, providing companies with accurate information that aids operations in achieving corporate goals. -Comprehensive Steel construction terminology and concepts. -The ideal candidate should be very comfortable with numbers and analytical thought. -Knowledge of estimating software packages. -Great attention to detail, both written and verbal. -High School Diploma or equivalent. -Degree in Construction Management, Civil/Structural Engineering or Business from an accredited college or university may substitute for three (3) YOE.
