Tasks
As a Senior Engineering Surveyor at TSS, you will play a critical role in delivering surveying excellence across NSW’s largest infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for project management, client management, time management, and quality assurance, ensuring outputs meet both client expectations and industry specifications. Client Management – Build and maintain strong relationships, ensuring clear communication and professional representation of TSS. Project Interface – Work closely with project managers and engineers to set priorities, resolve design discrepancies, and deliver practical solutions. Survey Control – Establish, maintain, and protect survey control networks. Advise clients on impact to existing control. Data Management – Compile, reduce, and process survey field data into project master files. Verify and QA all calculations. Leadership – Mentor junior surveyors, lead field crews, and provide technical guidance on QA, risk, and compliance. G71 Conformance – Capture survey data for earthworks, pavement, drainage, and structural elements to TfNSW G71 standards, including conformance reports, deviation analysis, and annotated QA documentation.

What You Bring
Experience on TfNSW roading projects involving multi-layer pavement works and structural conformance. Thorough knowledge of G71 workflows for survey pickup, setout, and reporting. Ability to produce fully compliant conformance reports in the required format for client submission. Strong understanding of conformance tolerances and specifications for earthworks, pavements, drainage, and structures. Qualifications – Tertiary qualifications in Surveying/Geomatics/Geospatial Engineering. This role will suit a technically skilled, independent, and motivated professional who thrives on ownership of projects while leveraging support from our established management teams in Sydney and the Hunter Region. Client & Team – Proven ability to manage clients, lead teams, and deliver projects to TfNSW and contractor QA standards. Capable of identifying design conflicts early and providing survey-driven solutions. Experience – 5+ years’ civil surveying experience, with senior/lead responsibilities. G71 Specification (TfNSW) Expertise Software – Strong background in 12d & 12d Field, including surface modelling, mapfiles, range files, and QA workflows.
