Tasks
-Procurement of Site Investigation, Building and Civil Engineering Contracts and, where appropriate, the preparation of pricing schedules and Bills of Quantities. -Take instruction from their Line Manager (and where appropriate, the relevant Project Manager and senior members of the project teams). -Administration of the construction contracts to ensure that design requirements, project schedules and project budget are achieved. -Liaising with local authorities in scoping the feasibility of new projects -Prepare detailed designs and drawings for Flood Relief Schemes. -Assisting our Project Managers in the preparation of tender documents and tender assessments. -Contribute to complex flooding and hydrology projects from initial concept through to handover, including hydraulic modelling, flood risk assessments, and drainage design. -Undertake construction supervision of major water infrastructure -Undertake Flood Risk Assessments (Stages 1 to 3) for various developments, including hydrological analysis and river modelling. -Preparing Designers’ Assessments of Risk for all designs -Undertake dam/reservoir safety inspections -Where directed by the Project Manager, liaise with Clients to deliver the required designs.

What You Bring
The position of Graduate (Civil) Engineer within TOBIN requires a minimum Level 8 Honours Degree qualification in Civil Engineering (or equivalent qualification appropriate to the tasks assigned) and in general the title may apply to staff that have between 1 and 4-years’ experience depending on the knowledge and skills gained over the course of their career to date. TOBIN is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Graduate Civil Engineer to join our Flood & Dam Division. Based in either our Dublin or Galway office, this is an exciting opportunity to work on nationally significant flood risk and water infrastructure projects, while developing your technical and project management skills under the guidance of experienced professionals. -Proficient in hydrological analysis using R and/or Python, including but not limited to statistical extreme value analysis and large dataset processing. -Fully versed in the requirements of site development works -Working knowledge of relevant software packages such as Microsoft Project and the capability to develop skills in the use of other software packages such as Microsoft Access and GIS software packages such as ArcGIS, QGIS and MapInfo. -Experienced in designing retaining walls, earth-fill embankments, and other hydraulic structures (such as spillways and weirs) using a suite of design software in accordance with relevant Eurocodes. -Competent understanding of hydrology/river modelling design principles -Knowledgeable in Nature-Based Solutions for developing environmentally sustainable flood resilience strategies. -Working knowledge of the various public procurement procedures and thresholds -Working knowledge of construction contracts such as the PWMF Forms of Contract and RIAI Forms of Contract. -Experienced in applying remote sensing and satellite datasets to hydrological and geoscience problems, with a focus on delivering robust Earth observation solutions. -Excellent written and verbal (English) communication and interpersonal communication skills. -Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative in complex technical tasks. -Proficient in the use of software packages such as HEC-RAS 1D/2D, Flood Modeller, AutoCAD 2D Innovyze, MicroDrainage.
