Steam Power Generation Specialist

Overview

Lead mechanical engineer for steam/thermal power projects, handling design, EPC, and mentorship.

Tasks

-Collaborate with Department manager and technical leaders to collaborate on strategic approaches to steam and thermal power generation -Assist with internal and external presentations -Performs quality control reviews of work developed by others -Responsible for the mechanical engineering design work on assigned projects; Function as the “Engineer of Record” on projects -Participate in project and client meetings -Multi-discipline collaboration on the development of equipment general arrangements, P&ID’s, isometrics, asset and tie-in lists, orthographic, etc. -Develop construction and equipment specifications and material requisitions -Generate applicable mechanical engineering deliverables to support all phases of scope development – Feasibility through Detail Design -Provides technical expertise for risk assessments, due diligence and other studies presenting complex technical solutions to clients. -Support company business development activities (e.g. pre-positioning and proposal response development) Coordination with the mechanical piping design team to direct completion of engineering drawings. -Interact with vendors, regulatory agencies and contractors -Occasional travel to client and/or project sites -Serve as lead engineer on all size projects maintaining responsible charge of mechanical deliverables -Home office support of projects during construction, start-up, and commissioning -Provide mentorship to other engineers within Department and other remote teams

What You Bring

-Strong experience with engineering software packages: Thermoflow package, Hysys, Caesar II, Pipe-Flo (or other hydraulic modeling application), AspenTech applications and/or Applied Flow Technology applications -Demonstrated experience in participating in complex, multi-discipline programs/projects -Experience in engineer and design of Combined Cycle Plants and Nuclear Generation Stations -Masters Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering -Expert experience with specifying mechanical equipment (e.g. rotating and static equipment) and piping material specifications -Expert familiarity with industry codes and standards (API, ASME, PIP, ANSI, ASTMs, etc). -Successful experience working in remote and multi-discipline teams -BA/BS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering + 8 years of relevant experience -Experience working in collaborative model environments (e.g. Navisworks, BIM 360) -Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position. -Familiarity with diverse metallurgy -9+ years of Energy related experience -Startup and Commissioning Field Experience -5+ yrs experience as project technical mechanical lead/mechanical engineer of record -Professional Engineer (P.E.) license
