The Role

Overview

Lead environmental compliance and risk management for construction projects.

Tasks

-Develop and conduct environmental protection and awareness training to staff at all levels. -Participate in project audits (both internal and external). -Identify wetland and sensitive environmental areas for protection and fencing in advance of construction activities. -Lead the environmental compliance for a project or district. -Function as a principal technical advisor and coordinator for environmental issues. -Liaise with environmental agencies and attend field visits with client and regulatory agencies. -Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies. -Coordinate with relevant crews on their work locations, material needs, quantities and invoices. -Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required. -Perform and oversee field inspections and monitoring (water, quality, underwater noise etc.). -Identify, document, report and develop corrective actions for environmental incidents. -Develop and update environmental plans. -Maintain project data tracking requirements. -Identify, assess and reduce environmental risks to the company. -Interpret and apply environmental specifications and drawings avoiding and minimizing adverse effects to the natural environment and local communities. -Prepare project and Kiewit required reports and communication of environmental risks to project management. -Monitor, forecast and communicate environmental costs at the project level. -Liaise with the clients; providing them design information, schedule details, quantities etc. ensuring they are aware of any unanticipated discoveries, critical permitting and compliance issues. -Review requirements and prepare proposals and estimates for new contracts.

What You Bring

-5+ years' experience managing design and construction environmental compliance for large construction projects. -Pipeline inspection experience highly desirable. -Qualified Environmental Professional designation is preferred. Registered Professional Biologist (P.Biol. or equivalent). -Regular, reliable attendance -Undergraduate degree in an environmental science or engineering field, or related. -Strong work ethic and willing to do what it takes to get the job done. -Superior interpersonal skills. -Working knowledge of Provincial and Federal environmental legislation. -Highly motivated and self-managed to get things done right the first time. -The ability to work independently as well as part of a team. -Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment -Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. -Excellent organization abilities and time management skills. -Ability to travel and relocate as needed. -Effective and strong written and verbal communication skills. -Work productively and meet deadlines timely
