The Role

Overview

Supervise drainage groundworks, lead operatives and ensure safety and quality.

Tasks

-Conduct risk assessment briefings and toolbox talks, ensuring compliance with Health & Safety standards -Drive high standards in Quality, Health & Safety, and production by engaging and motivating operatives -Ensure backfilling of trenches, manhole benching, and completion of external works (kerbing, edging, slab/block paving, landscaping) are performed correctly -Read and interpret technical drawings, convert programmes set by Site Management into actionable tasks, and ensure timely delivery of targets -Provide clear and professional communication with all stakeholders. -Manage groundwater and select appropriate pumps for specific tasks -Maintain expert-level knowledge in all aspects of groundwork, including ground beams, drainage, sub-structure concrete, roads, oversite housing slabs, and earthwork activities -Oversee and assist with the setup and use of trench boxes, drag boxes, manhole boxes, and pipe lasers -Assist in managing sub-contractors on site and ensure seamless collaboration where needed. -Supervise the laying of various pipes (concrete, clay, plastic) and ensure proper testing, bedding, and surrounding -Ensure operatives work effectively, following safe methods, particularly when working around buried services -Lead and manage a small gang of operatives, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of works

What You Bring

-Strong knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and procedures, including risk assessments and safe methods of work -CAT and Genny Training -CSCS Groundworker or similar qualification -Right to work in the UK -Please note that to comply with client requirements, we can only accept NPORS cards affiliated with CSCS and carrying the CSCS hologram. We no longer accept traditional NPORS cards. If you would like further details on how to transfer your card from the traditional scheme to the CSCS scheme, please click How to achieve an NPORS CSCS Operator Card NPORS -Strong leadership and time management skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team -Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage operatives and liaise with site management and clients effectively -5-10+ Years experience in skilled groundworks -Experienced working gangs/teams highly sought after with this role -Commercial awareness of site activities, with the ability to manage resources and drive cost-effective results -Reliable & punctual -Able to work well with other trades and operatives on site and support the programme delivery on time -Additional CPCS/NPORS* tickets and experienced in operating any of the following: Telehandlers, Dumpers and Rollers
