The Role

Overview

Operate furnaces, perform heat‑treatment and inspections for turbine components.

Tasks

-Machining Support: You will run CNC lathes, cylindrical grinders, and/or hones to prepare components for heat treatment, interpreting blueprints and technical drawings to meet specifications accurately. -Quality Assurance: You will conduct hardness testing and eddy current inspections to verify material properties, diligently documenting treatment parameters and inspection results. -Equipment Maintenance: You will perform routine maintenance of heat treatment and testing equipment, troubleshooting basic mechanical and electrical issues as needed. -Heat Treatment Operations: You will set up and operate furnaces and ovens, preparing parts for stress relief and nitriding, ensuring optimal conditions for each treatment. -Safety & Compliance: You will follow all OSHA, EPA, and company-specific safety protocols, using appropriate PPE and maintaining a clean and organized work environment to ensure the safety of yourself and your colleagues.

What You Bring

-Familiarity with CNC programming and automated furnace controls. -The ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in high-temperature environments. -Experience using eddy current testing equipment and hardness testers (e.g., Rockwell, Brinell). -Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team. -Experience in steam turbine component manufacturing or repair. -A high school diploma or GED is required; technical certification in machining or metallurgy is preferred, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in heat treatment operations within a machining or manufacturing environment. -A working knowledge of stress relief techniques, nitriding processes, and stainless steel metallurgy. -Certification in Heat Treating (e.g., ASTM, AMS standards). -Proficiency in lathe operation and the ability to read technical drawings and blueprints.
