Tasks

-Manage transportation projects to meet financial and technical requirements -Leading in the development of project designs and directing junior engineers, designers, and CADD technicians to successfully execute and deliver project work, while implementing client focused strategies -Adheres to company standards for quality assurance and quality control as defined in the quality manual -Principal in Charge for all aspects of our Brentwood, TN office (marketing and operations) -Developing Teams for project pursuits; working with marketing staff to develop proposals; attend presentations and interviews -Coordinate with other Volkert Office Managers to work share -Prepare and deliver technical presentations -Supervising, developing, and growing staff -Additional activities include managing the design and delivery of projects profitably while being actively involved in design issues and troubleshooting -Serves as the senior level engineering technical expert, responsible for roadway design for our Tennessee locations -Applying established and well-defined engineering techniques, procedures, policies, or standards -Coordinating with subconsultants

What You Bring

-The ability to manage AND assist in the production of design deliverables -A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR) -Experience working with TDOT -Possess a strong understanding of project management -Valid driver’s license -10+ years of progressive transportation/roadway experience -B.S. or M.S. in Civil engineering from ABET accredited engineering program -Understands and adheres to assigned phase and task schedules and budgets to ensure timely and cost-effective completion of project -Active in Business Development; marketing and client relations -Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines -Licensed Tennessee P.E. -5+ years of experience in management of engineering and support staff
