Intermediate Water Resources Engineer

Description

• Coordinating design drawings and specification development
• Provide technical mentorship to EngineersinTraining
• Hydraulic modeling (or overseeing hydraulic modelers) may be required on some projects (software including PCSWMM, Mike, WaterCAD, etc.).
• Detailed studies and design tasks associated with water related projects including site civil, conveyance and water resources projects
• Attending and conducting internal, client and contactor meetings and documenting the meetings with minutes
• Taking responsibility for the quality of your written, technical and graphic work, and for completing work ontime and onbudget
• Writing reports, design briefs and proposals
• This role will be supporting multidisciplinary municipal water resources and civil projects, related to new construction and infrastructure renewal, with a focus on municipal infrastructure (typically water and drainage related)
• Assist Project Managers with various duties including project setup, invoicing, financial and schedule management, change management and other tasks
• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams towards a common goal of delivering projects on time and on budget

Requirements

• Strong interpersonal, time management and communication skills (verbal and written). Ability to produce robust technical writing pieces (e.g. reports or proposals).
• Sound understanding of water, environmental principles, and engineering concepts, including hydraulics and hydrology.
• Previous experience working with municipalities, utility owners or in engineering consulting.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental or Water Resources Engineering from an accredited university, preferably in the water resources, and/or environmental disciplines.
• Minimum 3 years of demonstrated related experience.
• A strong knowledge of municipal infrastructure design and construction is required.
• Experience with Project Coordination and/or Project Management will be considered an asset.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, responsibilities and projects and adjust to changing demands.
• Working knowledge of various software for planning and design of water infrastructure facilities (AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcView GIS, PCSWMM, Mike suite, WaterCAD) will be considered an asset.
• Registered with APEGA as a P.Eng. or as an E.I.T. who will be eligible for a P.Eng. within ~1 year (or eligible to register)
• Highly skilled in common desktop packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, etc.)
