Assist inspectors in documenting construction progress and testing on civil infrastructure projects.

Tasks

-Enter and record information regarding construction projects into computer programs -Compose reports with a daily log of construction activities, field inspections, tests performed, personnel assigned, equipment used, weather conditions, and other information pertinent to the progress of the work -Assist a Inspector perform measurements and calculations necessary to determine quantity of work performed and materials required -Check layout and dimensions of work by utilizing basic tape measures, rules and other instruments -Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and identify discrepancies or conflicts within the documents -Monitor, record and inspect progress on construction projects -Receive general supervision from the Senior Inspector who reviews work while in progress -Assist a Inspector coordinate field materials sampling and testing, including concrete slump and air testing, casting concrete test cylinders, and performing in-place soil compaction testing -Assist a Inspector conduct and document observations of construction as it progresses for projects related to civil infrastructure, such as roads, bridges, water/wastewater facilities, pump stations or pipelines

What You Bring

-Ability to navigate through outdoor construction sites by walking, navigating slopes, hills and other rough terrain or obstacles to facilitate completion of assigned tasks in all seasons and environmental conditions -Ability to lift and carry equipment necessary for performance of inspections and testing -Ability to communicate proficiently through verbal and written correspondence -Some demonstrated experience in construction inspection -Department of Transportation technician testing certifications -Ability to work overtime, including nights and weekends -Attention to detail -Ability to work as part of a team -OSHA 10 Hr Certification -Ability to travel to remote work sites outside of the Saint Louis Metro area -Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program -The ability to exercise deductive reasoning and independently resolve problems -Possess strong problem-solving and communication skills -Ability to climb ladders, scaffolding, and navigate structures of varying heights -Currently enrolled in a Technical School or pursuing a related Associate’s program -Ability to interpret construction schedules -Basic Microsoft Office skills -This position typically requires successfully passing drug-screening procedures prior to being hired; thereafter subject to random and cause drug and alcohol testing -Strong people skills, ability to interact positively with the project team -Skills to perform basic mathematical calculations in geometry and algebra
