Mechanical Design Engineer

Overview

Design and deliver mechanical building services solutions, ensuring compliance and safety.

Key Responsibilities

• equipment sizing
• load calculations
• thermal modelling
• duct sizing
• drainage sizing
• mechanical layouts

Tasks

-Sizing and selection of AHUs, FCUs, extract fans, pumps, chillers, ASHP, boilers, plate heat exchangers etc -Producing stage reports & presentations. -Preparing Designers Risk Assessment and Mitigation Reports -Producing pipe and duct sizing calculations using industry software or other desktop spreadsheets -Carrying out site surveys of existing installations where applicable. -Producing above ground drainage calculations and sizing of drainage systems -Attending Design team meetings. -Detailing mechanical layouts & schematics for build. -Meeting project delivery deadlines. -Sizing and selection of domestic hot and cold-water equipment (heaters, storage tanks etc) -Designing in conjunction with fire strategy reports, local building regulations & planning authority requirements. -Producing heating/cooling (thermal modelling) and ventilation load calculations using industry software -Production of detailed design and survey reports.

What You Bring

-Sizing and selection of firefighting sprinkler and pumping systems (preferred but not essential) -Strong communication skills -Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent -Working knowledge of design software such as Hevacomp, Carrier HAP, CyMap, IES/TAS required -Extensive experience in the Mechanical Engineering building services for construction -Good knowledge of CIBSE, IEC, BS, IS &EN Irish, UK standards or ASHRAE. -Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment.
