The Role

Overview

Provides on‑site installation, testing, and repair of telecom fiber, copper, and OSP/ISP cabling.

Tasks

-Work on ladders and/or move up and down steep staircases as required -Work in tight, cramped spaces such as equipment racks (IT) rooms and closets -Coordinate with drafters to develop and complete project drawing packages. -Develop material requirements and equipment requirements, -Terminate, splice, test, maintain, and repair fiber optic (including fusion splicing), copper, and coaxial cabling -Provides technical solutions and recommendations to resolve installation discrepancies. -Review, analyze, and correct deficiencies in technical drawings and system diagrams to provide red lines and As-Builts.

What You Bring

-Works well individually or in a team environment -Ability to carry 50 pounds unaided or 90-pound loads aided. -Must have a minimum of eight (8) years of experience of inside plant operation and maintenance experience, installation, testing, and repair of telecommunications equipment and systems. -Must be able to use tools and test equipment -Must have a High School diploma or equivalent. -Must be able to obtain a Secret clearance. -Electronic Technicians Association (ETA) Certified Fiber Optic Installer. -Knowledge of DOD DATA centers. -Specific knowledge of operating principles of wired, wireless and RF environments -Proven knowledge of aspects of infrastructure and network cabling. Following best industry practices for infrastructure cabling and wiring within a variety of environments. -Current Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI) certifications. -ETA Certified Fiber Optic Designer -Knowledge of C4I systems. -Must be a U.S. citizen. -Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check and pre-hire drug test. -RF, multi-pin and fiber optic cable and connector building expert. -Working knowledge of OSP/ISP voice and network cabling, equipment, and infrastructure. -Strong coordination, organization, teaming, and communication abilities -Working Knowledge of SPAWAR SIPH (Shore Installation Process Handbook) -Ability to work under pressure and time constraints -Experience reading installation drawings and tech manuals. -Proven knowledge of wired/wireless equipment installation and basic testing methods and procedures.
