Tasks

-Is aware of and enforces contracts with contractors and consultants -Work collaboratively and build effective relationships with the client’s project team, owners and final users, design team, contractors, and local jurisdictional personnel -Coordinate the delivery and use of construction materials, tools, and equipment within a specific are or scope to ensure that resources are utilized efficiently -Responsible for maintaining high-quality construction standards. Conduct inspections, review workmanship, and ensure that construction is in compliance with design specifications and industry standards -Provide project updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders -Play a crucial role in enforcing safety protocols, conducting safety meetings, and ensuring that all workers adhere to safety regulations -Handle conflicts, whether they involve personnel, schedules, or technical matters, to keep the project running smoothly -Maintain accurate and detailed records of daily activities, including work completed, issues encountered, and any changes made to the original plans -Review submittals from the general contractor and coordinate with engineering -Oversee the work of subcontractors, laborers, and other personnel working on-site. Ensure that work is being performed correctly and efficiently -Maintain a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment -Serve as a communication hub between project managers, architects, subcontractors, and workers. Relay information about project progress, changes, and challenges to the relevant parties -Create and manage schedules for construction activities within the designated area or scope, ensuring that work progresses in a timely manner and that different tasks are properly sequenced -Monitor costs related to their area of responsibility and work to ensure that the project stays within budget -Measure task performance to identify areas for improvement -Manage the construction process in a specific area or scope, which involves planning, organizing, and coordinating all the activities necessary to complete the project on time and within budget -Understand and help execute the project schedule and work plan -Monitor progress and adjust as needed

What You Bring

A superintendent is responsible for managing and overseeing the day-to-day operations of a construction project. They are on-site to ensure that construction activities are carried out efficiently, safely, and according to the project plans and specifications. Superintendents play a critical role in coordinating various tasks, managing subcontractors and laborers, and ensuring that the project progresses smoothly. This role requires a combination of technical knowledge, management skills, and the ability to handle complex and diverse challenges specific to a certain area or scope of a project. Successful candidate may be hired level I, II, III, or Senior based on education + years of relevant experience. -8+ years of experience for a Superintendent II -Excellent analytical skills and proven ability to solve problems creatively -5+ years of experience for a Superintendent I -15+ years of experience for a Senior Superintendent -Understand quality control, document control, and communication plans -Protective / safety gear (e.g., hard hat, glasses, safety harness) is required while on site. -Strong interpersonal skills and extremely resourceful in managing stakeholders -10+ years of experience for a Superintendent III -Contractor license preferred -Understand subcontractor scopes, help in the buyout process, and oversee day-to-day activities -Ability to compile, analyze, summarize, and present data in a concise manner -Organizational skills, oral and written communication, and team attitude -Activities include extended periods of sitting, movement, and extensive work at a computer and phone. -May require travel. -Occasional heavy lifting (30+ lb. / 13.6+ kg) can be expected, though exertion of up to 10 lbs. of force is more common. Need good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment (e.g., computers, mobile devices, copiers). -Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management or technical field preferred OR an equivalent combination of education and experience -Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and automation systems -Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline -Secondary focus on additional project scope focus identified and nurtured to mastery. i.e. CSA, MEP, Process -Must be on-call to address delays, emergencies, severe weather, and other issues at the jobsite. -Initial focus on a key scope associated with a project is identified and nurtured to mastery. i.e. CSA, MEP, Process -Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of the job site in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.
