Tasks
Prepare drawings of the projects designed accurately and in conformance with the applicable standards and regulations, and review all work for completeness before submitting for engineering review. Balance a full project workload with aggressive deadlines and fixed budgets. Confer with other staff members to resolve problems, achieve milestones, and create construction documents. Perform engineering calculations and complete other supplemental design documents. Perform field walks, document existing conditions, and/or recommend design solutions. Prepare deliverables in a professional and organized manner. Professionally represent NV5 in internal and external client meetings. Gain familiarity with construction standards in order to best meet client and NV5’s expectations. What You Bring
3-5 years of experience in relevant utility design and/or underground design experience, including direct design and draft work, in the power-delivery field. Demonstrate strong knowledge of relevant industry standards for design and construction. Minimal travel to client sites as needed (expected to be no more than 30% of time). Certified SDG&E underground and overhead designer. Certified SDG&E gas and/or transformer vault designer. (Preferred). Experience with SDG&E Underground, Overhead, Service, and Design Manual Standards (Preferred). Build a working knowledge of electric/gas utility safe work practices and as appropriate for distribution roles, demonstrate knowledge by working in and around underground electrical vaults with a utility-authorized Qualified Worker. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or other related STEM disciplines. Adhere to complex project work flows. Proficient using MS Office Suite and other relevant software. The pay range for this California position is $36.00- $45.00 per hour; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
