Tasks

-Feasibility Studies: Conduct complex feasibility studies from a technological and organizational perspective and document findings to complete cost-benefit analysis on implementing changes to business processes, products, or business unit structure. -Collaborating with other engineering disciplines and design staff in the production of high-quality project deliverables -Maintaining contact with sub-consultants, municipalities, utility companies and clients -Communicating with other discipline leads, designers, and project team members on a regular basis to ensure effective and timely flow of project information to meet scheduled deadlines. Ensuring that project design solutions are delivered to the highest standards and meet program and budgetary constraints -Needs Assessment: Uncover emerging issues or needs, identifying potential causes, barriers, and key stakeholders, as well as related issues. -Professional Supervision: Providing technical leadership and mentorship to intermediate and junior staff -Client & Customer Management (External): Maintaining contact with sub-consultants, municipalities, utility companies, and clients -Working closely with Business Group Leaders, Project Managers, and Project Directors with a focus on structural design for transit infrastructure. -Knowledge Management: Develop policies and processes, create best practices, set up case studies, and deliver internal knowledge-sharing sessions to capture and share knowledge among colleagues on project/program outcomes and innovative practices in a particular area of expertise and to support the practice. -Technical Developments Recommendation: Preparation of reports, and contract documents for review agencies, clients, and the public -Improvement/Innovation: Identify shortcomings in existing business practices, then suggest and implement improvements while developing and delivering projects or a work stream within the organization's change management program. Involves working with guidance from senior colleagues.

What You Bring

-A Professional Engineering (P. Eng) license with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) is required. -Experience in managing/mentoring or leading a group is considered an asset -Bilingualism in English and French or Spanish is considered an asset -15+ years of experience in design and engineering of bridge projects. -Familiarity with the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (CHBDC), Ontario design standards (i.e., OPSS), and client specific standards and requirements (i.e., MTO) -Project Management: Exposure to project planning, development, and monitoring of project schedules, and budgets -Experience and understanding of alternative delivery methodology. -CN Rail, CP Rail, and MTO experience are considered an asset -Engineering Solutions Design: Successful participation in, and completion of multi-disciplined transportation structure projects, rail bridges and structures, and complex design. Production of conceptual design, detailed design, technical specifications, cost, and schedule estimating -Metrolinx and AREMA experience
