Tasks
-Create detailed test plans, procedures, and methodologies for optical systems and components. -Prepare comprehensive documentation, including test plans, work instructions, and performance reports. -Develop and maintain automated test systems, often writing code in Python or MATLAB to enhance efficiency. -Analyze test data, interpret performance results, generate technical reports, and make data-driven recommendations for product optimization. -Conduct comprehensive optical tests and diagnostics using specialized equipment like interferometers, power meters, and spectrophotometers. -Work closely with design, manufacturing, and other cross-functional teams to ensure product reliability and facilitate integration. -Identify and resolve optical-related issues in prototypes and finished products.

What You Bring
-Experience with the space qualification of precision optical systems. -Experience operating and maintaining optical test equipment and precision measurement tools. -Experience with single mode fiber optics and free space fiber coupling. -Degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, Opto-Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. -Experience with space systems, free space optical systems, and precision mechanisms. -Ability to code in languages like Python or MATLAB and use optical analysis tools (e.g., Zemax, Code V). -Proficiency in diffraction limited optical measurements, interferometry, and high-speed optical tracking. -Deep understanding of optics, photonics, geometrical optics, and material properties. -5+ years of experience as an optical test engineer. -Familiarity with sources, metrology tools, optics, and equipment in the infrared spectrum.
