The Role
Overview
Assist drilling team in operating rigs and collecting soil/rock samples for geotechnical work.

Tasks
-Assist in assembling and disassembling drill tooling potentially including but not limited to the following: solid-flight augers, hollow-stem augers, rock core barrel assembly kits, Shelby tube samplers, split-spoon samples, etc. -Operate support vehicle equipment -Retrieval and logging of soil/rock samples -Must be aware of, and adhere to, safety practices and policies to ensure your own safety, as well as the safety of others who may be affected by your actions at work -Assist with soil drilling, rock coring, soil/rock sampling, classifications, in-situ testing, and monitoring well installation -Interact with geotechnical engineers and project managers to understand drilling assignments and to relate field information to the office -Prepare tooling and supplies for the day’s tasks -Assist in the operations of various drilling rigs -Cleaning and maintaining equipment as well as assisting in site clean up responsibilities -Assists Driller to manipulate, load, and unload drill rig tooling -Assists with the identification of boring locations through the use of GPS equipment

What You Bring
-Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (hot and cold) for the majority of the day -Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, (hearing) and to make the discriminations in sound -Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time -Must be able to work off shifts and overtime -Must be bilingual and able to verbally communicate in English and Spanish -Ability to climb occasionally -Experience assisting with drilling operations is preferred, but not required – WE WILL TRAIN! -Requires basic math skills -Ability to kneel and squat occasionally -Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal & written communication -HS Education or Equivalent (preferred) -Ability to lift, move, push and pull up to 50 pounds frequently. Occasionally, over 50 pounds with assistance -Valid Driver’s License and reliable driving record (required) -Ability to receive work instructions and follow tasks -Must be able to travel up to 5% of the time
