GROUNDS MAINTENANCE LABORER (UNION)

Overview

Perform grounds maintenance, landscaping, and equipment operation for facilities.

Tasks

-Responsible for timely reporting of accidents, injuries, and hazardous situations. -Spread concrete and asphalt on concrete and paving jobs using the appropriate hand tools for the job. -Move heavy pieces of machinery and equipment. -Water lawn and shrubs during dry periods using hose or activating sprinkler systems during the day or night. -Cut, remove trees, brush and palms. -Clean culverts and ditches. -Prune shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth using shears and other hand tools. -Pick up and cart away leaves, paper, or other litter. -Move supplies and materials to proper location by Hand, Wheelbarrow or trucks. -Wash, wax, vacuum, and polish vehicles. -Dig, fill and tamp earth excavations. -Clean hand tools, machinery and work area. -Trim hedges and edge around walks/curves, flowerbeds, and wells, using hedge trimmers, clippers, and edging tools. -Plant sod, flowers, spread grass seed, trees, and shrubs. -Perform operator maintenance such as lubricate and make minor repairs to mowers and attachments such as tightening bolts, replacing washers, replacing blades & sharpening, cotter pins, screws, cleaning, greasing, checking fluid levels, and adding as required, checking tire air pressure, braking system, to mower, and make operator adjustments, and repairs. -Loads and unloads trucks, and other conveyances. -Cuts vegetation using walking-type or riding mowers {less than 2000 lbs.). -Spread sand and salt on icy roads and walkways. -Clean rock beds and xeriscaping. -Level ground using pick, shovel, tamper and rake. -Cut, prune, and/or remove trees. -Operates power tools such as lawnmowers, weed eaters, edger's, blowers, drills, air hammers, earth tampers, generators, air compressors, sump pumps, concrete saws, routers, etc. -Shovel concrete, soil and asphalt. -Move and arrange heavy pieces of office and household furniture, equipment, and appliances.

Requirements

What You Bring

-One year of similar experience. -Must be able to complete a criminal record background check and drug screen. -Must be able to drive a company vehicle and be insured. -Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, and team lift 51 pounds or more -Knowledge of machines used in grounds maintenance, such as riding mowers -Valid State Driver’s License. -Diversity/interpersonal Skills. -3-5 years of previous experience in a similar role. -Ability to understand working knowledge of hazardous, safety, and environmental warnings. -High school diploma or equivalent. -Must comply with all company policies -Knowledge of hand and power tools. -Knowledge of hand-held power tools. -Good interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team environment. -Must be willing to travel to San Clemente Island for quarterly maintenance. -Three years of experience in commercial/industrial grounds maintenance. -Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English. -Professional knowledge of turf, plants, plant bedding, soil, tree maintenance, pruning, removal, fertilizer application, weed control, and other landscape issues.
