The Role

Overview

Design urban/rural roadways, handling geometry, drainage, utility coordination, and documentation.

Tasks

-Coordinate with utility companies to obtain, review, and maintain utility-specific documentation (ie prior rights, as-builts, encroachment permits, betterments, no-cost letters, standards and specifications, etc.) -Participate in project coordination meetings -Develop and maintain accurate records of utility coordination efforts and delivery and receipt of documentation, including routine updates for the client and project team -Prepare specifications and contract document -Prepare and update utility reports and applicable data specific to proposed project design -Take responsibility for alignment and profile, geometrics, drainage, development of plans and construction estimates -Review project design plans for utility conflicts and evaluation of feasible alternatives for mitigation -Develop and coordinate utility agreements and memoranda of agreements between utility companies and the client as applicable to the project design -Work on a team with other project engineers on the design of urban and rural roadway projects -Aid with the creation and submission of technical reports, specifications and calculations -Communicate and coordinate with utility companies and the project team specifically to the design process and schedule and per standard client practices and requirements

What You Bring

-Strong communication skills -Proficient with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD, familiarity and demonstrated experience with Highways and Roads engineering software such as Bentley ConceptStation and Open Roads Designer and/or Autodesk Infraworks and Civil3d -Bachelor's degree -Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate -Proficiency in Microsoft Office, experience with Microstation and/or Open Roads.

-Candidates without their EIT will be placed into a Design Coordinator job code and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression
