Tasks

-Promote and enforce a culture of safety, ensuring adherence to SOLV’s safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and NFPA 70E compliance for energized substation environments. -Oversee quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) activities to ensure substation installations meet applicable standards, drawings, and specifications. -Lead and manage all phases of high voltage substation construction projects, including greenfield builds, brownfield upgrades, and maintenance efforts. -Maintain documentation, redlines, and commissioning readiness in coordination with engineering and startup teams. -Conduct detailed site inspections and ensure conformance with NESC, IEEE, and utility standards. -Ensure compliance with project plans, schedules, budgets, and substation-specific performance metrics. -Manage subcontractor performance and material logistics for critical substation equipment delivery and installation. -Supervise site crews during installation of substation components including transformers, breakers, control buildings, protection and control systems, buswork, grounding grids, and SCADA systems. -Mentor and develop assistant superintendents, foremen, and craft-level personnel in substation operations, safety procedures, and technical best practices. -Serve as the primary point of contact for field execution of substation scopes—coordinating with engineering, procurement, utilities, and subcontractors. -Ensure environmental and regulatory compliance specific to substation construction and operations.

What You Bring

-Ability to work in confined spaces, elevated structures, and around high-voltage equipment -Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills -Strong working knowledge of utility-grade substation equipment and protection/control systems -Familiarity with applicable codes and standards (e.g., IEEE, NESC, NFPA 70E) -Licensed Journeyman Electrician or equivalent preferred -Tolerance for weather extremes and construction-related physical conditions -Ability to travel and work on active substation sites in various regions -Visual and auditory acuity required for safety-critical activities -Frequent standing, walking, lifting (50+ lbs), bending, climbing, and exposure to outdoor environments -Proven experience leading substation crews and managing high-risk energized environments -5–7 years of direct experience in substation construction, commissioning, or maintenance (69kV–500kV preferred) -OSHA 30 certification required; First Aid/CPR required
