Overview

Skilled worker performs concrete, steel, welding, carpentry, and millwright tasks.

Tasks

-Coordinating tasks and/or projects. -Fits and installs prefabricated window frames, doors, doorframes, weather stripping, interior and exterior trim, and finish hardware. -Serves as a lead to Laborers, Construction Workers, and other Skilled Construction Workers by monitoring and assigning work to construction crew in the absence of a Foreman or Superintendent. -Studies blueprints, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to type of material required, such as lumber or fiberboard, and dimensions of structure or fixture to be fabricated; prepare layouts, using measuring tape, framing square, calipers; and marks cutting and assembly lines on materials. -Work zone safety and OSHA job site regulations. -Performing craftwork in area of expertise (see above). -Erects scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level -Operating heavy equipment such as backhoes, end loaders, power tools and all trucks. -Builds stairs and lays out and installs partitions and cabinet work. -Aligns material to specified connections; verifies vertical and horizontal alignment of materials. -Performs millwright duties by reading blueprints and schematic drawings to determine layout of equipment; dismantling machines; moving machinery and equipment, using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks; and, assembling and installing equipment, such as shafting, conveyors, and tram rails. -Finishes or repair concrete surfaces to specified finish, may specialize in finishing steps and stairways, or may break up and repair old concrete surfaces. -Levels concrete to specified depth and workable consistency, using hand-held screed and floats to bring water to surface and produce soft topping; and smooths and shapes surfaces of freshly poured concrete, using straight edge and float or power screed. -Shapes materials to prescribed measurements; assembles cut and shaped materials and fastens them together with appropriate tools; verifies trueness of structure with layout tools; and erects framework for structures and lays sub flooring. -Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed, bring problems to the attention of the Superintendent, Field Safety Coordinator or HR Manager. -Reading blueprints, specifications, engineering plans.

What You Bring

-Frequent physical activity like climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, driving, pushing, pulling, lifting, and using hands. -High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.) -Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction. -Heavy Work: Exerting up to 75 pounds of force occasionally (with team assistance) and/or up to 40 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. -Qualified in rigging & hoisting of materials -Operating hand and power tools. -Skilled craft techniques (specific knowledge of a trade, ex; concrete, steel, carpentry, millwright). -Hand and power tool operation. -Valid Driver’s License preferred -Problem solving. -Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties such as those listed above. -Or four years of construction-related experience specializing in two or more trades. -Certified welders should be able to read weld symbols and identify a weld meets specifications, have an understanding of maintenance and calibration of welding machines, understand proper handling of welding material and gases.
