Tasks
-To be capable of generating cost information to support option appraisals and recommendations. -Lead the preparation of estimating and cost planning duties and present to the programme partner team, Partners, and the Client. -You will lead the delivery of key assignments and defined business areas, providing strategic direction and monitoring delivery aligned with overall vision and objectives. -Producing and maintaining project baselines and execute the pre-construction change control process as appropriate. -You will lead operations that are fiscally and ethically viable, influencing the achievement of business objectives that align with business and legislative compliance obligations. -You will direct preparation of contract documents, warranties, bonds and licenses to achieve formal execution by appropriate parties. -Ensure service delivery is in line with the conditions of the contract. -Ensure services are managed to the right quality standards and are completed efficiently and on time. -Developing and maintaining of project assumptions/exclusions and dependencies logs. -To be preparing estimates and cost planning for high value public sector business case approval. -You will work collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition, and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work. -You will lead Cost Consultants to identify and execute opportunities that improve cost management procedures, templates and products to enhance services provided to stakeholders. -To be capable of providing cost advise for the inclusion in a priced risk and opportunity register. -You will champion a diverse and inclusive working environment, and understand the importance of the wellbeing of the people you manage. -Incorporating appropriate financial data in the programme to produce a project cost/time distribution profile and communicate the results to the project team. -You will mentor, coach, and develop teams, demonstrating effective leadership to ensure excellence in delivery against plans, championing a continuous improvement culture throughout all activities. -Safeguarding and protecting the planet – Adopting a sustainable approach, making the right decisions to protect our world. -You will actively network, innovate, and seek understanding of best practice, utilising the full depth of knowledge of Mace group, the centres of excellence, Mace way control centre and knowledge hub. -The identification of and participation in new initiatives that add value and improve the programme. -You will be a leading advocate of Mace's value of Safety First, and be accountable for leading and maintaining exceptional safety, quality, cost, programme, sustainability and project compliance standards. -You will proactively identify costing associated with design changes, contract awards, construction activities and client charges, and present these to clients. -You will commit to making a positive impact for our people, our clients, and our planet, and take ownership for holding others to account who do not uphold the Mace values.

What You Bring
-Experience of providing cost services to retained buildings and to new build projects. -Experience of nuclear or high secure sectors desirable. -Strong Bidding and business development experience. -Proven relevant experience in project management or project controls environment in a similar estimating or cost planning role in a construction or consultancy background. -Degree in quantity surveying/cost management (or equivalent). -You will possess advanced technical expertise in local Health and Safety rules and regulations relevant to project portfolio. -Professional membership i.e. MRICS/RICS (or equivalent) and moving towards fellowship, or equivalent demonstrable professional or personal development. -To be capable of accurately measuring works in accordance with a recognised method of measurement and work structures and to build-up rates for work based on a demonstrable calculation. -Good negotiating, influencing and communication skills to command professional respect at all levels. -Passion driven – Sense of belonging, aligned to vision and programme ideology. -Strong commercial and financial acumen. -Knowledge of application of value management and value engineering techniques. -Ability to constructively and effectively comment upon current processes and procedures that would be of benefit to the programme. -Proficiency in the use of advanced excel spreadsheets. -Ability to interface with other team disciplines to include amongst others project management, project controls, assurance, risk. -A quantity surveying degree or equivalent experience and ideally a member of RICS or equivalent professional body. -Sound knowledge of value engineering, life cycle costing, contract law and contractual frameworks relating to construction. -Experience of managing relationships with key senior stakeholders. -Knowledge of how carbon and sustainability considerations will shape the outlook of the projects you are working on. -An ability to use the latest digital tools and platforms that are industry recognised for the purposes of preparing and reporting cost advice, preferably experience of using Causeway CATO and BIM Measure. -Ability to apply costs into a cost loaded programme within a work and cost structure. -Good commercial skills and ability to make sound decisions on matters to ensure that value for money is obtained and can be demonstrated. -Experience of preparing highly technical cost advice for services and works that are subject to the highest level of security and safety requirements. -Familiarity with most common Forms of Contract, especially NEC4, within the construction industry and major projects and programme environment. Knowledge of UK Law and its impact upon contracts and the estimating and cost planning function are essential -Management experience within large, diverse teams. -Understanding of cost planning work packages and an understanding of how the structure of the construction industry is reflected in the composition of cost plan structures. -To be able to fully deputise for the Estimating Lead as and when required.
