Tasks

-Produce design layouts which are cost effective, meet the requirements of the specification and which can be constructed and commissioned effectively. -Assure customer satisfaction. -Ensure that standard designs & practices are utilised wherever possible. -Work to procedures and processes to ensure the continuing development of the department. -Establish working relationships with construction staff and supply chain representatives to promote buildability and supply chain efficiency in design outputs. -Ensure that design takes full regard of all CDM 2015 Regulations and health and safety requirements. -Assist in developing procedures and processes. -Write, update and monitor efficient procedures to aid the smooth running of the department. -Report to Principal Engineer, Design Managers, Technical Discipline Lead and Regional Discipline Lead. -Assist in supervising and developing staff. -Ensure co-ordination of designs with all other disciplines internal and external to MWHT in order to ensure that the design processes carried out on the contract are co-ordinated for the benefit of the contract as a whole. -Delivering the design stage outputs of each project within the agreed timescale and budget. -Maintain a personal development plan. -Reduce waste to a minimum from all departmental activities. -Working alongside other disciplines for the development of site/plant 3D model. -Provide estimates and feedback for Proposals department. -Maintain files and records throughout the duration of contracts. -Assist in ensuring a safe working environment for all staff. -Ensure designs take account of environmental issues. -Production and Checking of all design deliverables including Specifications, Schedules, Drawings and Calculations. -Monitor and review the procedures and processes. -Coordinating design outputs across all technical disciplines.

What You Bring

-Driving license. -A flexible mind, with the ability to assimilate large amounts of different data at one time. -Understanding of the principles of water and sewage treatment. -Have experience of managing/mentoring members of staff in designing relevant discipline aspects of water and sewage treatment plants. -Working knowledge of industry standards (BS, WIMES, BSRIA, etc.), HSE regulatory requirements (PUWER, LOLER, PSSR 2000, DSEAR, etc.), The Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations 2016 (Reg31), Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI), etc. -Working knowledge of roles and responsibility under CDM 2015 Regulations. -Minimum: - relevant discipline Engineering HND. -Ability to present technical proposals clearly, confidently and convincingly. -Relevant Engineering Master’s Degree -Computer literacy. -Ability to rationalise designs and produce economic plant layouts. -Good general knowledge of all aspects of water treatment, e.g. mechanical engineering, process engineering, electrical engineering and project management. -Working towards Chartered Engineer status. -Demonstrable experience and knowledge of engineering principles including structures, materials, hydraulics and environmental engineering. -Preferable: - relevant discipline Engineering degree. -Membership of a professional institution chartered or nearing chartership.
