The Role

Overview

Develop traffic designs, conduct studies, manage projects, and mentor staff in Florida.

Tasks

-Assist in preparing conceptual intersection layouts, schematics, signal timings and engineering reports -Responsible for business development activities -Prepare traffic signal design plans for new intersections and signal modifications to facilitate multimodal accommodations -Prepare technical reports for traffic impact studies, interchange access requests, or safety studies -Supervise and mentor junior engineers -Prepare and management the development of traffic impact studies, land use planning, master plan studies, traffic signal warrant studies, bikeway planning and design, community and campus planning, technical report writing -Prepare temporary traffic control plan/traffic management plan (TMP) and signing, pavement marking plans -Attend project meetings with clients -Manage project budgets to meet financial metrics -Prepare Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) design plans

What You Bring

-Familiarity in MicroStation and/or AutoCAD (OpenRoads/InRoads preferred) -Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guideline. -Willingness and motivation to curate and foster personal client base -Knowledge in transportation planning, including comprehensive corridor analysis, DOT local programs (beneficial), public involvement, safety and access, pedestrian and bicycle planning, multimodal planning and traffic operations -Membership and involvement in transportation industry organizations such as WTS, ASCE, and ITE will be preferred, if not already a member -PTOE is preferred -FL PE license is required -BS in Civil Engineering -Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written -A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR). -Self-starter and capable of completing tasks with minimal oversight -Proficiency in traffic analyses software such as VISSIM, Synchro/Simtraffic, Sidra Intersection, HCS -Familiarity with DOT and/or general DOT traffic design standards, MUTCD and AASHTO -Valid driver’s license. -3 - 6 years of traffic engineering experience
